چکیده

Exposure to increased pressure, such as that encountered under water, affects the mechanics of respiration and in particular, the behavior of the respiratory gases. Carbon dioxide plays a major role in the physiology of the high-pressure environment, since the increased breathing resistance easily leads to carbon dioxide retention. The latter has been observed frequently in scuba and helmet diving. Pulmonary gas exchange in breathhold diving is influenced by the compression and decompression events resulting in a reversed carbon dioxide gradient during descent. The alveolar carbon dioxide level can be controlled during the ascent from depth by controlling the speed of ascent, a fact which is of significance to both breathhold diving and the buoyant ascents of submarine escape. Investigations of pulmonary gas exchange in rest and exercise during exposure to high pressure while breathing helium-oxygen gas mixtures have demonstrated the existence of respiratory limitations and associated COg retention when divers are performing heavy, exhaustive work. In shallow habitat air diving using combinations of air and normoxic nitrogen-oxygen breathing mixtures, evidence for the development of slight respiratory acidosis and CO2 retention has been obtained. CARBON DIOXIDE MINIMUM MISCIBILITY PRESSURE ESTIMATION (CASE STUDY)

Carbon dioxide flooding is considered to be one of the most effective enhanced oil recovery methods for the light oil reservoirs. Depending on the operating pressure, the process might be miscible or immiscible. Minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is the most important parameter for assessing the applicability of any miscible gas flood for an oil reservoir. The miscibility condition is determine...

Adaptation of the Cyanobacterium fischerella sp. ISC 107 to the combined effects of pH and carbon dioxide concentration. Mahboobeh Rajabnasab1, Ramezan Ali Khavari-nejad1*, Shademan Shokravi2 and Taher Nejadsattari1

The aim of this study was to investigate the adaptation of the cyanobacterium Fischerella sp. ISC 107to combined effects of carbon dioxide concentration, acidic and alkalinity. Axenic strain was incubated in BG0-11 medium. Carbon dioxide treatments were limited and relatively non-limited. Acidic (pH 5), neutral (pH7), and alkaline (pH 9) conditions were employed in each treatment. Survival, gro...

Dispersion Coefficients of Supercritical Fluid in Fixed Beds

The axial dispersion coefficient of hexachlorobenzene in supercritical carbon dioxide is investigated in a fixed-bed packed with glass beads. The on-line chromatographic pulse-response experiment is used in order to study the dynamics of a packed column under supercritical conditions. The radial dispersion is assumed negligible because of the packed column geometry. To estimate the axial disper...
